it would take too long to explain why this book is just so very very awful. The main male character is a caricature of a "monster"and or a 'Master" I mean really? just nonchalantly throwing in there killing people because they're a "liability" and I'm supported to like this character?? And the S/M? none of it is based in reality which is fine because this is fiction but give me a break here there has to be some semblance of reality so i can connect with the characters. oh and OMG the long winded internal dialogue and the main female characters continuous fear and whining? I cant!! In a romance novel genera book NO PENETRATION and poorly written short scenes of other sexual acts?? come on now. This is enough top turn me off this author permanently. Broken Dolls took me on a journey that threw unexpected turns at me throughout. I enjoyed this story and loved the twists and turns. I won't go into detail however this dark erotic novel grabbed my attention from the start. I didn't want to put it down. There is quite a bit of action and suspense that occurs in the last half of the book. Broken Dolls is my first KT book and will not be the last. I definitely recommend this to those who love reading dark erotica.
Wow, what to say about this book. Mina and Brian are both so broken and are exactly what the other needs. It's definitely a journey with many ups and downs that leaves you reeling with so many emotions. These are two characters I would love to visit again to see how they have progressed, it has a feel of an HFN book. Once I finished there was a sense of peace to follow, Kitty has the ability to draw you into her books as if you are there experiencing all the pain, peace and every emotion in between

It wasn't a bad book! Very quick read, intriguing, and nothing like I've read before. I wish there would have been more intimacy between Brian and Mina like the characters from 'Mafia Captive'. I wanted more of them together.
The worst part about it was Mina. The 180 she makes when she tries to leave the house, then come back again in the car driving away was so bizarre. She had no clue what she wanted. She stressed me out.
"Every man she trusted turned out to be a monster." And just when Mina has given up, she's directed to a place called Dome. From there, whoa, Mina's life changes drastically. It's an intense, emotional story about choices, trust, truth, retribution, torture, hope, despair, passion, and pain. This plot really draws you into the story, with these very memorable characters. Wow, what a series!
This was one of the most interesting Dark Romances I've ever read. And --- as some other reviews have said - the H/h don't *technically* have intercourse.
What's cool, and really shows Thomas' ability as a writer?

Seriously! I have wallbanged books (you know. Before I upgraded to a kindle. Now I e-wallbang, which isn't as satisfying but it does ensure a longer, happier kindle-life) that didn't get the H/h together before I lost interest but Broken Dolls was different in that I was NEVER bored (NEVER!) and completely satisfied that the main couple had a solid romance. Crazy, I know! So don't pass it by if that's holding you back. If you like Kitty Thomas' other works, don't miss this one. It just became one of my favorites
Mina is seeing a therapist after coming out of an abusive dom sub relationship. Her therapist recommends her to train to become a sub to be sold to a master who is vetted. Brian sees Mina at the mansion and he wants her but she is afraid because he is the most feared trainer in the house. He has no problem punishing girls and taking care of the dirty business but he wants Mina and not just for punishment. He buys her because he thinks there is something off with the buyer. She is frightened but her contract states no pain punishment which he says he will abide by. However she pushes his buttons and he loses control. She is then given an out but a week later she is kidnapped. Will the most feared man put away his anger to save her?
I really enjoyed the story but I felt it needed more. I wasn't involved in the characters as much as I like to. They seemed to lack the certain personality traits that keep my emotions going wild. Also, the sexual scenes could have used more detail. I wanted to know more about Brian and the things he did to the girls. It was hard for me to feel anything for him when the most I had to go on was hearsay from the other girls. It wasn't a terrible read but it lacked a lot for me.
